ACC & Rail Initiatives

Elgin takes the INITIATIVE to provide the tools needed for economic success both now and in the future.

Austin Community College Annexation

Providing Access to Opportunity
& Economic Development

The Elgin Independent School District became a part of the ACC District by majority vote in November 2010. ACC purchased land in Elgin and built a campus which was completed fall 2013. Classes are being held at the ACC Elgin Campus.
Austin Community College District

The ACC Elgin Campus is part of the Austin Community College District serving Bastrop and Travis County. It also is home to the college's Veterinary Technician and Sustainable Agricultural Entrepreneurship programs.

The campus offers a broad selection of college classes for university transfer and career training:
Core curriculum classes needed to earn a college degree. Workforce programs in emerging industries and high-demand careers. Developmental education to achieve college readiness.

In addition, ACC Elgin students receive a full range of support and services at the campus to guide their college career from admissions to completion.

Connecting Elgin to Austin by Passenger Rail!

The City of Elgin is working with Capital Metro, CAMPO, and others to institute Passenger Rail service from Austin to Elgin and beyond. This is a long term project, but Elgin is in the forefront of the plan for this rail service.
