Founder's Day Birthday Bash! Saturday, August 20th

Founders Day

Please join us on Saturday, August 20th from 10 am - 2 pm for the Elgin Founder's Day Birthday Bash at Booker T Washington Elementary School, 510 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Elgin. The event will kick off in the gymnasium with a formal program by recognizing Elgin founders ages 90+ and the role that Booker T. Washington played in our past and honoring our Hogeye roots and railroad and agricultural ties.

After the formal program, enjoy musical performances and community fellowship as we celebrate with an old-fashioned birthday party. There will be indoor and outdoor activities for all ages, balloon animals, face painting, interactive history games, a car show, festival fare, and, of course, a birthday cake worthy of turning 150!

There will also be the opportunity for the community to record oral histories as well as learn about Elgin's cultural heritage at History in the Halls, which features 20+ local and regional organizations sharing various historical aspects of the community.

Transportation to and from the event will be available from the Elgin Depot Museum, 14 Depot St in downtown Elgin beginning at 9:30 am until 2:30 pm.
