Sip Shop & Stroll happening June 9

Enjoy Sip Shop and Stroll from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every second Thursday of the month in Downtown Elgin! Sample wines and local foods, enjoy live entertainment and shop for one-of-a-kind gifts, jewelry, home decor, art and more. In-store specials and extended hours are adjusted for shops and restaurants participating in the event.

Juneteenth

Juneteenth Parade & more June 10-11

Juneteenth continues June 11 starting at 10 a.m. with the Grand Parade! Line-up for the parade will start at 8 a.m. from Booker T. Washington Elementary School and parades through Historic Downtown Elgin. After the parade, there will be activities at Veterans' Memorial Park downtown until 6 p.m.

Elgin Juneteenth Celebration Schedule

  • Friday June 10, Street Dance on Depot Street featuring DJ Darshe Resse from 8 p.m. to midnight with food Vendors in Veterans Park serving up traditional festival fare and Texas BBQ.
  • Saturday June 11, Parade on Main Street @ 10 a.m. Registration forms available online in English and Spanish at http://www.elgintx.com/1174/Elgin-Sesquicentennial. After the parade, come down to Veterans' Park for the Juneteenth festivities! Meet the Royal Court, let the kids enjoy the fun activities and celebrate with song, food and fellowship throughout the day until 6 p.m.

Juneteenth on Juneteenth

Celebrate Juneteenth on Juneteenth with a candlelight ceremony and help construct a human birthday cake at Thomas Park, 411 Madison St.
We are looking for organizations and businesses to commit to bringing a group of 10 people to help shine a light on Juneteenth via a human birthday cake. For anyone interested, please contact Gwen Johnson at (512) 669-6610.

Western Days

Western Days Festival June 23-25

Western Days serves as Elgin’s annual homecoming celebration and is always held during the last week in June. Throughout the multiple-day affair, events are held, including a Fashion Show parade, carnival, live music, vendor marketplace and sports tournaments. The grand finale is held on Saturday where guests can peruse the wares of artisans and craft vendors at an outdoor marketplace while listening to live entertainment throughout the afternoon. The festival is packed full of fun activities for all ages making this a great family-fun event!
