Juneteenth Festival 

Celebrate Juneteenth Festival Weekend Friday June 9 Street Dance at Depot Street & Veterans Memorial Park downtown.  Saturday June 10 starting at 10 am, parade through downtown Elgin, arts and crafts booths, food, music, and fun at Veterans Memorial Park Downtown.

Western Days Festival

Tuesday June 20th Miss Western Days pageant and Tiny Tot Pageant.  Thursday June 22 through June 24 - Carnival.  June 23 Memorial Park Dance free from 8 pm to midnight.  Saturday June 24 - Grand Parade through downtown Elgin, carnival, arts and crafts, live music, food, tournaments for volleyball, softball, horse shoes, washers, and softball.  Al at Elgin Memorial Park 10 am to 6 pm at Memorial Park on Main Street.

Elgin Historical Association 2nd Edition of "Elgin Etc." 

Elgin Historical Association is planning their 2nd edition of "Elgin, Etc."  
Stories being accepted until July 1, not more than 1,500 words.  If you are a newcomer, the first edition was published in 2008 with 81 authors, writing 117 stories for the book. (The first edition is for sale in the depot museum.)  Elgin stories only - people, events, family lore, funny memories.  Click here for more information.

Anyone under the age of eighteen can enjoy free meals from EISD Nutrition Services Department through the Summer Food Summer program.  The Summer Food Summer program will be available at all campuses from June 5 through July 13 providing breakfast and lunch.  For additional information visit    http://www.elginisd.net

June 9-10 Juneteenth Festival 
The Juneteenth Celebration kicks off their event with vendors in Veterans’ Memorial Park Friday at 7:00 PM . and the annual street dance held at from 9:00 PM. through midnight. Juneteenth continues on Saturday starts at 10:00 AM. with the Grand Parade. Line up for the parade will start at 8 a.m. from Booker T. Washington Elementary School and parades through Historic Downtown Elgin. After the parade there will be activities at Veterans’ Memorial Park downtown until 6:00 PM.

Elgin People's Patriotic Fourth of July Parade
Tuesday July 4 at 10am Push, Pedal, Pull and Pets is the theme of the annual parade and celebration held on the Fourth of July. Everyone is invited to walk or ride down Main Street from City Hall to Veterans' Memorial Park. All non-motorized entries are accepted. Food and fun follow the parade with a short program and a Soap Box Derby Exhibition by the local Cub Scouts. For more information visit Elgin Parks and Recreation.

Bulk Trash:  New information 
BULK TRASH SERVICES
The City of Elgin has Residential Bulk Pickup every 2nd and 4th  Wednesdays of each month. All bulk requests are to be submitted in writing, at dnavejas@ci.elgin.tx.us ,our website at elgintx.com or forms may be picked up at City Hall. Call in requests will not be accepted. The deadline to schedule a pickup is Friday at 5pm prior to the next scheduled bulk date. 
 
Chapter 42, Article IV, Section 42-272 “Bulky waste and brush waste shall not be placed out for collection earlier than 5:00 p.m. two days before the established collection day and shall be moved from the collection site no later than 7:00 a.m. the date after the collection day.”
 
Violation of the rules and requirements –including exceeding the limit for bulk trash placed at the curb may result in citation and potential fines per City Ordinance.
