Pre-Festival Activities Thursday & Friday 


Saturday, October 24 from 10 am to 6 pm, Elgin goes hog wild for this free family festival. It is a time for family friendly fun and casual feasting in the Sausage Capital of Texas with all the pink pork trimmings this proud central Texas town can root up. Set in our Historic Downtown, you can browse vendor booths and enjoy entertainment as well as shop in our local stores.

The festival features live music on three stages, handmade arts and crafts, children’s activities, Car Show, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, In a Pig’s Eye Dart Contest, the crowning of King Hog or Queen Sowpreme, children’s costume pet parade, carnival, Hogalicious Dessert Contest, Cow Patty Bingo, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show and great food!

NEW THIS YEAR!
Austin Steam Train Association will be at Hogeye this year with the 1960 No. 442 diesel locomotive. Rides will be 20 minutes long, departing from Veteran’s Memorial Park every 40 minutes from 11:00 am - 4:20 pm. Tickets are available at Austin Steam Train at the link below. There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase on-site the day of Hogeye. Purchase your tickets today to avoid the lines and possibility of selling out.

Think Pink Thursdays!  Hogeye's not just a Festival -
it's a Season!  Wear your Pink or Vintage Hogeye T-shirts every Thursday in October as we prepare for the Festival and all the events leading up to it. Don't get OINKED

Hogalicious Desert Contest: test those recipes! Youth and adults can enter their best sugary confections in the pie and cake categories.  There’s a professional category too! Judged based on Presentation and taste – just like in Cupcake Wars! Thursday October 22nd, 6 pm at Elgin Local Goods, 201 N Main, Registration form  or  Professional form

Pearls Before Swine Art Show – Thursday, October 22nd at 6 pm, opening reception at 107 North Main Street. Open Friday and Saturday 10 - 6. See Elgin Arts Association 

Carnival! 
- Thursday through Saturday, Avenue C between Depot and Central. Unlimited rides for one price Thursday and Friday evenings, opens at 10 am Saturday.

FREE Festival Shuttle! 

Park at the Elgin Park & Ride on Hwy 95 North -
(just past Main Street by Elgin Memorial Park) 
ride the free festival shuttle to Avenue C & 1st Street
Shuttle runs every 15 minutes from 10 am to 6 pm

Street Closures

The City of Elgin will close the following streets on Saturday October 24, from 4 am until 8 pm for the festival: No parking on these streets from 10 pm Friday to 8 pm Saturday.

  • Main Street from Lexington to Austin Street
  • Avenue C from Austin Street to First Street 
  • Central Avenue, Depot Street, from Main Street to Avenue A
  • First Street from Avenue E to Avenue C
  • 2nd Street from Avenue E to Avenue C 
  The Elgin Public Library will be accessible for early voting!  

Hogeye & Main Street
The Hogeye Festival is produced by the Elgin Main Street Board, an organization supporting downtown revitalization, the City of Elgin, and underwritten by area businesses. Proceeds from the festival go toward downtown improvement projects ranging from new sidewalks, to beautification. Elgin is a Texas Main Street City and has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a National Main Street Community since 1989. Over the past 23 years more than $11 million has been reinvested in Elgin’s downtown district as a Texas Main Street City!

Saturday 10/24 ONLY – the Farmer’s Market will be next to Prosperity Bank (parking lot on Main Street) during the Hogeye Festival.

Make your market shopping list now - grass-fed beef, pork, chicken, fresh bacon, eggs, honey, baked goods, pecan products, and craft items, including soaps and jewelry.

Halloween - Safe Trick or Treat Trail

Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 7 pm bring the kids for trick or treating in Historic Downtown Elgin. This safe alternative includes treats & games available from local businesses and clubs in Veterans’ Memorial Park, downtown businesses, First Baptist Church, & the  Elgin Volunteer Fire Department.

Businesses may sign up for a free booth by contacting Michael Gonzalez at 512-285-6190.

Shenandoah Trail Celebration  

Join us in celebrating the opening of the Shenandoah Park Trail.  In addition to refreshments and door prizes there will be nature and outdoor activity information booths. Located along beautiful Elm Creek the Shenandoah Trail starts in Shenandoah Soccer Park 1490 N Ave C and ends at the Austin Community College Elgin Campus on 290.  For more information please contact the Elgin Parks Department 512-285-6190 or click here.
