The Pearls Art Show kicks off the annual Hogeye Festival every year on the fourth Thursday of October. This juried art show is also a community event and is a lesson in enjoying great art and not taking art too seriously. Professional artists from throughout Texas participate in this juried art show. A silent auction during the evening raises funds for art scholarships for area high school graduates who wish to continue their education in the arts. The event is generously supported by local businesses, the Elgin Main Street Board, and the Hogeye Festival committee, and is coordinated entirely by volunteers. Art & Artisans Elgin Style Celebrating local artists and encouraging the promotion of art in Elgin resulted in the creation of an informal cooperative called Art 7 Artisans Elgin Style. More than 30 local artists are involved in this effort to promote Elgin as an art destination. Twice a year artists showcase their work in Historic Downtown Elgin: 4th Saturday in April and the 1st Saturday in December. A website, artists’ catalogue and promotional materials have been funded by the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Elgin Main Street Board and the artists. Elgin Art Walk  Art in Elgin is producing the Elgin Art Walk on the second Saturday of the months of March, April, May, June, September, October, November and the first Saturday in December. Art Walk is in Elgin's Historic Downtown district and takes place in existing commercial galleries, non-profit arts spaces and what are called "other walls," restaurants and retail stores. Each exhibits art and welcomes viewers with open doors, later hours and refreshments. One of Elgin's newest programs for promoting the city as an Arts Destination, Art Walk, promotes all kinds of art and artists, offers alternative places to see and learn about art and hopes to bring newcomers, as well as welcome return visitors to the growing arts community in the city.
