Stuff the Bus

Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive

The Elgin Main Street Board and the Elgin Chamber of Commerce are teaming up with Elgin ISD to host a Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive in August. During Sip Shop and Stroll bring school supplies and help fill the EISD School bus downtown! You can make a difference in the lives of children and dedicated teachers and staff in our community!School supply lists are available here  (specific to each campus and vary by grade level) Cash donations may be made to the Elgin Education Foundation. Donations will be distributed to all five campuses.

Enjoy indoor full size basketball court, fitness room, hardwood floor aerobic studio, commercial kitchen, restrooms with showers. Volleyball days, Open court days, free workout classes and more!

In cooperation with the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas. Provides a local blood donation option  please plan for an hour to make your donation. For more information visit www.weareblood.org or call local event coordinator, Jason Tatum at 512-731-0352.

Start Composting This Summer

Summer is here, It's a great time to get your compost pile started. It takes three to four months for organic ingredients to break down and form compost. 


Many of the items typically go in the trash, like food scraps, paper products, and leaves can be composted. Composting benefits the environment by helping reduce landfill waste and conserve water. Learn more about the benefits of composting here

August 27th - 31st - Quarterly Bulk Service
Bulk trash pickup is once per quarter and is serviced on your scheduled trash day.  Items may be placed at the curb two days before, no earlier than 5 PM.  Any items that are not serviced, must be removed no later than 7 AM the day after collection.  Click here for the   Trash & Recycling Procedures

8:30am Elgin Memorial Park Small Pavilion .
Registration is at 8:30am at the small pavilion. Clean up location will be assigned at check-in. Refreshments, grabbers, gloves, trash bags and volunteer vest provided.

Thursday, September 13th- Sip, Shop & Stroll

Thursday, October 25th- Hogalicious Dessert Contest
6pm at Eva Mae's Kitchen 

Put on your baking cap and apron and make a dessert (or two) to enter in the Hogalicious Dessert Contest. Desserts must fall into one of two categories; pies or cakes and be home baked (no store bought items. A Professional category is also available - check out the Hogeye Festival page to get a registration form.

Thursday, October 25th- Pearls Before Swine Art Show
Pearls showcases the Elgin area’s finest artists and brings together diverse and stimulating pieces of their work. The Opening Gala includes a silent auction, the proceeds go to the Pearls Before Swine Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded by the Elgin Arts Association each year to Elgin-area graduating seniors who plan to continue studies in any of the arts including visual, music, theater, dance, creative writing, and more. Friday, October 26th- Hogeye Street Dance

8pm-midnight on Depot Street.  Featuring Kenny Orts and No Chance. Vendors providing food, and drinks will be available in addition to the carnival which will be open the same hours. You can also enjoy dinner downtown. 

Saturday, October 27th- 31st Annual Hogeye Festival 

The festival features live music and entertainment on three stages , handmade arts and crafts, children’s activities, a children’s costume pet parade, a carnival, Road Hog Car Show, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, Hogalicious Dessert Contest, Cow Patty Bingo, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show and great festive food! Free Festival Shuttle available at the Hwy 95 North Park and Ride. See website for additional information. 

Wednesday, October 31st- Safe Trick or Treat
6-8pm at Veterans Memorial Park & Downtown Elgin 
Bring your trick or treaters to downtown for fun and free treats.
