Alvis Prince represents Ward 3 since January 2021. Alvis is a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Alvis and his wife have resided in Elgin since 2016 and have been in the Austin area since he left Active Army service at Fort Hood in 1996. Alvis continued to serve in the Army Reserve, retiring in 2013 after 22 years of service and 3 deployments.
Alvis is a Deputy at Travis County Sheriff’s Office where he is currently assigned as a Recruiter, with previous assignments as a Training Officer and Background Investigator. Alvis has been award the agency’s lifesaving award twice among other accolades. He leads the agency’s cycling team and sits on boards for the Sheriff's Memorial & Benevolent Society of Travis County and Travis County Green Team. Alvis sits on the Career and Technical Education Advisory board for Austin Independent School District and works part time as a Substitute teacher for Elgin Independent School District.
Alvis enjoys spending time with his family, especially his little buddy his granddaughter, the two can often be found having pancakes together or munching Oreos. Alvis also enjoys volunteering in the community, cycling and competitive triathlons and promises to put just as much passion into serving Elgin and the people of Ward 3.
